‘La Chascona’ is a series of works which began with a visit to the garden of Pablo Neruda’s house of the same name in Santiago, Chile, initially a hideaway for his mistress Matilde. ‘La Chascona’, Quechuen for unruly hair, was also her nickname. The genius poet, diplomat, philanderer and self confessed rapist was spied upon and allegedly murdered by the regime, his garden full of stories, poetry, love, secrets, deception and betrayal, witnessed by the trees. La Chascona was ransacked after his death.
